37. Ors

Known for its "Maison Forestière", Ors attracts people interested by Wilfred Owen's life and poetry.

It was in the cellar of a house in the forest that one of Britain’s greatest poets, Wilfred Owen, wrote his last letter to his mother. He died not far away on 4th November attempting to cross the Sambre-Oise canal. The forest house has now been massively converted and its displays allow visitors to learn about the poet’s work as well as the context in which he knew the area.
