Matisse Museum
Superb works of Henri Matisse but also from other great artists of the 20th century.
Set in the former Fenelon Palace since 1982, it offers a superb overview of the work of Matisse, one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. It is the artist himself, born in Le Cateau-Cambrai, who made a donation of 82 paintings back in 1952.
Seventeen exhibition rooms have been fitted out in the renovated Matisse museum. The Matisse collection can be found in the main building where ten rooms have been dedicated to the life and work of the artist.
The Auguste Herbin collection can be found in the new building where five rooms have been dedicated to the artist who was born in Quiévy in 1882.
In the Tériade room 27 books as well as some 500 engravings by great artists like Chagall, Léger, Rouault, Miro, Matisse, Le Corbusier and so on are displayed (a donation by the famous publisher).
